Using computer-manipulated images of the landscape, nature, abstractions past and contemporary images as my source material, I create paintings that physically assert themselves through the historical materials of painting, translating the virtual to the real. the digital component allows for the ability to develop a vocabulary of forms and gestures that is layered and manipulated again and again until they are transformed, and therefore, surprising and interact in unexpected ways.
I employ a vernacular of marks that are predetermined through a process of digital manipulation, repetition, layering to create works that seek out seeks out chaos, conflict, contradictions, flatness and depth, the atmospheric and the organic within a language abstraction.
